Update

Well I am back from the hospital. The Dr. removed the side of my stomach, while he was in there,he fixed a hernia.
I was down 27 lbs.after 2 weeks on the diet.I am afraid to weigh, because I feel swollen.
I have six new scares on my tummy.(in later years I will tell my grand kids that I was in a knife fight)
This is the third day since the surgery.I am doing well.Little pain, more like a discomfort.

I have always been the biggest man in the crowd, maybe this will change.
One week on water, then two weeks of protein shakes, after that two weeks of soft foods.
This means no ham or turkey for me this year.I guess a few more years of living is worth it.

When on a liquid ;
Never pass a chance to go pee-
If get urge to poop don't wait-
And never ever trust a fart-
Don't ask me how I know this!

Till next time----------Poohpa

In my book, whether you are a Big Man or not has very little to do with your weight. Tee, you've always been that to your family and friends, who love you, among other reasons, for your Big Heart. Hang in there, my friend. I am so proud of you.

  2. Regardless of the size of the person....its the size of the heart. And the happiness he brings his grandaughter. Proud just doesnt describe it.

  3. I can't tell you how happy I am for you Tee. Even though you still have some difficult weeks ahead...they will get easier. I think you've come through the hardest part so far. Just keep your goal in mind. 27 pounds in two weeks...WOW...that is truly amazing. You're doing a wonderful thing my friend...for yourself, and for your family. You don't need any ham or turkey this holiday...you've got the love and admiration of your whole family; and that will take you a long way. Congrats Tee... ~Joy

P.S. Sorry about posting those darn cookies on my blog. If I told you they tasted awful, would you believe me? Yeah, I didn't think so.

  4. Poohpa (which somehow seems very appropriate in light of the current posting)--I followed you over here from Joy's.
I know that there are all sorts of such surgeries; but, I think you are in for a wonderful journey. (1) My niece had surgery about 10 years ago. She is doing wonderfully, at the lowest weight I've ever seen her attain since her pre-teen years. (2) A friend had surgery 5 years ago, and she is doing wonderfully. (3) Another friend had surgery last April. As of last Saturday, she had lost 120 pounds and is now able to do many things that her back pain kept her from doing for the past few years.

Each of the three had a different surgical approach taken on her - that's how fast procedures have evolved. May your journey be as healthful and satisfying as theirs have been.
